PRINCIPLE
This procedure also performs a gastric bypass (short circuit).
Since September 23, 2019, the French High Authority (HAS) has recommended that it should no longer be used when the loop is 200 cm or more in length. The HAS is not in favor of its reimbursement in the surgical treatment of obesity, due to insufficient data establishing its effectiveness and to the existence of potential serious complications associated with it.
This procedure is no longer performed in France.
